RELIGIOUS GUN MAKING.
The Philadelphia Inquirer speaking of the presto changing of bells into cannon in Secessia, made imperative by the scarcity of gun metal, remarks as follows of the modus operandi :
The guns to be made from a bell given by a Baptist Church in Richmond, are to be called the "Second Baptist Church Battery."
Was the like ever heard of? No; but it soon will be. We shall read of Episcopal Howitzers, Catholic Light Artillery, Old School Field Battery, New School Pocket Pieces, Methodist Flying Artillery, Reformed Dutch Gunners, Lutheran Persuaders, Friends Rifled Peacemakers, etc., etc.
