Rock county is a turmoil over the recent discharge of the county agent by the county board. A three-way battle is on between the board of supervisors, the county farm bureau and the chambers of commerce of Beloit and Janesville. The university of Wisconsin has been drawn in through the statement made that the county agent's work consisted mainly in sending university "bunk" out to the farmers. The farm bureau defends the agent and the farmers in the county. The commercial bodies wish to open agricultural departments to replace the one supplanted. The farm bureau heads charge that the county board consists of a number of mossbacks who have opposed every progressive measures for the twenty years past. Meetings are in progress over the issue.
