NEW HARDING PICTURE DUE

'The Witness Chair' Is Billed in City

A powerful combination of character study and tense action is offered in Ann Harding's new picture, "The Witness Chair," which joins the blonde star in a romance with Walter Abel for the second time, their first screen co-appearance being "The Lady Consents," and shows Tuesday and Wednesday at the Palace theatre in McAllen.

Drawn from the Cosmopolitan magazine story of the same name, "The Witness Chair" presents Miss Harding as a woman who commits an accidental killing while trying to free the man she loves from a false implication in a bunco swindle. She leaves stray evidence which brings Abel to the stand to face murder charges.

Miss Harding's dramatic courtroom confession calls for her wide range of talents to provide a nerve-tingling climax.

A secret romance between Abel's daughter and the murdered man contributes complicating heart thrills, with Frances Sage, noted Broadway actress making her first screen appearance in the role of the daughter.

George Nicholls, Jr., directed Douglass Dumbrille, Moroni Olsen, Margaret Hamilton and many others in this RKO Radio picturization of Rita Weiman's story.
