Another sweeping change which shocked the bishopric, which formerly wielded almost autocratic power, both over the ministry and the finance of the AME connection, came with the passage of a resolution revising the financial structure of the church and taking all budgetary matters out of the hands of the Bishop's Council.
All of which points up the fact that times are changing. People everywhere are breaking with tradition, as the need for change becomes apparent for the betterment of the whole. The Brotherhood, a growing young organization of ministers and the Laymen's League led the fight for the all-inclusive connectional budget. So when the AME's take leave of our fair city they will carry reflections of a memorable session held at a time when the world is changing and everyone must submit to change or be swallowed up by the tide which flows in its wake.
