Full Text

A Baltimorean Murdered—We regret to learn that the young man murdered by a gambler, named Bowen, at Curtisville, in California, some account of which we gave in our California news, on Monday, was Mr. Alexander Boggs, a son of Mr. John Boggs, a commission merchant, of this city.

"He had a quarrel with the gambler on the previous day, which was apparently settled. Bowen came in his store on the day after and asked Mr. Boggs to fight him, which he declined; Bowen then drew a revolver and shot him dead. The murderer was seized by the spectators, dragged to the gallows used for slaughtering beasts, and hung without judge or jury, breathing his last simultaneously with his victim. Mr. Boggs was much esteemed by a large circle of acquaintances in this city."
