NUMBER BRAVE MANKATO BOYS
TO LEAVE FOR ARMY THIS EVENING

DEMONSTRATION AT THE DEPOT

Corporal J. F. Mueller, local recruiting officer in charge of the Mankato station, and his assistants, Privates E. Meehan and T. S. Hines, are busy men taking care of all applicants who crowd the office, wishing to enlist. About one hundred men were at the office today, applying for enlistment. Those who have been accepted and will be sent to St. Louis and to Jefferson Barracks on the Northwestern train at 6:40 this evening are Claude Masters, Erwin Harriman, Clarence Wiseman, Dan Lloyd, Herbert Lloyd, Lloyd Green, Harold Rath, Hale Clements, Clifford Anderson, Merle Kimball, Leonard Harvey, Howard Johnson, Howard Hinton, Harry Anderson, Herbert Roos, Lowell Metizenger, Roy Bennett, Elmer Hughes, Walter Harlin, all of Mankato, who joined the coast artillery, Warren Hanscomb, city, who joined the infantry, Thomas Autrey, city, coast artillery, Verne Gish, Madison Lake and Mark Burgess, Mapleton, coast artillery, Edy Treanor, city, coast artillery. A large number of young men who are enlisting in the infantry will be shipped out tomorrow night.

Sandon's band, the high school cadets, and the boy scouts will escort the newly enlisted men to the depot this evening.

Private Hines was at Springfield yesterday, and about twenty men, members of the Springfield band, applied for enlistment. They will be given their examinations tomorrow night.

Tonight one of the local men will go to Tyler to receive applications.
