Those present for the meeting were C. E. McLamb, Willie Biggs, Hugh Prince, Eugene Smith, Norman J. Suttles, Billy Godwin and Mr. Rhodes. Mr. Rhodes came in on the invitation of the Civic Affairs Committee to talk to them about what some of the other towns of equal size to Dunn were doing.
In talking to the group, Mr. Rhodes emphasized that each community must first analyze its own situation and needs and then select the plan that best meets their own situation.
He also stated that if a United Fund or Community Chest was decided on that it was absolutely necessary for the entire business and professional group of the city to be 100 per cent behind it.
Mr. Godwin stated that the group decided to give the matter further study and to call other business and professional men together at a later date to find out just how much interest and need there is for such a campaign in Dunn.
