Atlanta Laborer Given Life On Murder Charge

A 45 year old Atlanta laborer was convicted of murder Tuesday afternoon in Fulton Superior Court and ordered to serve life in Prison by an all white jury, that heard nearly a full day of testimonies by witnesses.

William Glass, 45, of 2356 Herring Drive, S. W., was arraigned early Tuesday in Judge Walter C. Hendrix's court on a charge of slaying Mrs. Lula Mae Parks, 24, mother of three children and former resident of 434 Griffin St. N. W.

The prosecution, conducted by Assistant Solicitor Charles Murphy and assisted by Negro attorney Romae Turner, charged that Glass stabbed Mrs. Parks several times in her apartment on January 12. The defendant admitted stabbing her 3 times with a knife. he said that belonged to her.

SAW STABBING

The chief witness for the state Miss Doris Beasley, said she lived in the same apartment house as the dead woman. She told the jury she saw Glass come to Mrs. Parks apartment about 11 a. m. on the day of the alleged stabbing and later witnessed the stabbing.

Miss Beasley related she was in a nearby kitchen when she heard Mrs. Parks scream: "Help me! Help me! Please God!"

The witness said she ran to the woman's room and saw the man and woman struggling. Mrs. Parks she said was bleeding, and she saw a knife. When asked whose hands the knife was in, she declared. "it was in William Glass's hand."

She said she pulled Glass off the woman, and he stabbed at her.

She then ran from the room in quest of a weapon, and returned and saw him stab Mrs. Parks three
