On Thursday the 14th instant, was found floating in Potowmack river, opposite to Alexandria, a dead man. There appeared several great marks of violence upon him. He was five feet 7 or 8 inches high, had a short nose, short curled hair of a light chesnut colour. He had on a blue and white check shirt, a pair of purple or deep claret colour'd breeches, with silk knee bands; they were mended in the seat, and a piece put in below the right pocket in the shape of a gore, a pair of country mixed stockings, and a pair of country made shoes. The coroner's inquest brought in their verdict murder, by a person or persons unknown.
