Event Details
The strongest possible efforts are still being made by the management of the Oregon Improvement Company's coal mine to extinguish the fire which continues raging in all the east side of the workings of the mine. The heat and steam from the fire permeates the roof rocks, and causes it to cave in large quantities, rendering it impossible for the men to reach the fire. The fire is above water on the upper levels, and cannot be reached even by flooding the lower workings of the mine.
