For the National Intelligencer.
To all persons burthened with lots of ground, with mortgaged buildings, with bare prospects and threatening disappointment in the total affairs of the Federal City:
Accept an opening prospect!
The plan of this City and its operations, thus far are Washington's last legacy to the people redeemed by his arm. His commission extended but to a political redemption. After him another comes. The Eagle with her pendant branch now hovers over this City. She announces the pacific designs of the Great Supreme. The tokens of her descent are in their proper place. If her voice find an answer of peace from the National Mount, she descends in the placitude of her design, and locates the standard of her dominion in this place. A healthful breeze comes over your blasted and laboring prospects, and the forests nod at her descent. Rejected, she clasps her wings, and the glory is departed.
Seven days and the matter is decided.
