In consequence of the convention of Hohenlinden on the 20th of September, there was concluded an armistice between the armies of Italy. The Austrian army were to hold the posts of Ponti, Monzembano, Borghetto and Guidizzolo upon the right bank of the Mincio, between Mantua and Peschiera. And the French army were to hold Ponti, St. Marco, Calcinato, Montechlato and Asola, upon the left bank of the Chiese, but no entrenchments were to be made by either army in these positions.
Since the return of gen. Brune, many troops have passed to Piedmont and Genoa, to take their quarters. Great exertions are made to provide ample means of subsistence to the armies. It is said the French are about to take possession of Lucca.
