The War Department has appointed him "Agent of the Freedmen's Bureau, Refugees, and Abandoned Lands," under an act of Congress for the continuance of the Bureau. Besides this fat office, he is agent of the Northern Methodist Church, at a salary of twenty-five hundred dollars; agent of the Radical Rascals for establishment of Loyal Leagues in Mississippi, and Alderman of the City of Jackson. He is also agent for the Devil, but we don't believe that agency pays him anything.
[The Brandon Republican, from which we cut the above, should have said "pays him anything as yet," His reward in that direction will be sure to come.--Vicksburg Times.]
[And, for "stealing the livery of heaven to serve the devil in," as he has done, in professing to be a minister of the Gospel, while he practices all manner of iniquities, he will roast in the infernal regions "world without end." Instead of preaching good will on earth and peace among men, he peregrinate the country in the interest of that hell-born organization, Radicalism, stirring up strife and widening the breach between the whites and his own race. And, verily, he shall have his reward.--CITIZEN.]
