Full Text

June 2. A few Days since an eminent Tradesman of this City, under the Misfortune of missing his Wife, had conceived every possible Revenge, against a certain Person whom he suspected of taking her off, but was prudently advised to be cautious in his Proceedings, and for the greater Certainty to apply for Information to an eminently skilful Doctor within a Mile of Ludgate. The learned Doctor, after some Pauses and Hesitations, assured him he should the next Day meet a Friend, who would unravel the whole Mystery to him; and his Credulity was not displeased, when in Conversation he was accordingly informed that St. Albans was the favourite Retirement of the Lady: For which Place, with a Friend, he immediately set out in a Post Chaise, and agreeable to the Prediction, found the lost Sheep. But how great the Astonishment, when, instead of the suspected Rival, she was caught in the Arms of his Partner supposed to be on a Journey to a contrary Part of the Kingdom.
