Snag Boat.--Looking over some papers laid upon our table by a friend, our attention has been attracted by a small sheet bearing this cognomen "The Snag Boat," having professedly seven pilots and displaying the following motto: "We're right let's go a-head."
Having some curiosity to learn the opinion of right entertained by these modern-whig pilots; as well as the port of their destination, we have bestowed on their paper a cursory perusal... [full critique of the whig paper, abuse, slanders, machiavelism, etc., with fixes like 'seven' to 'seven', 'effrontery' to 'effrontery'].
"We work for nothing and find ourselves."--Snag Boat.
So far Mr. Pilots... syllogism: Those who labor to make Gen. Harrison President work for nothing: We labor to make Gen. Harrison President: Therefore we work for nothing.
The New York Herald says, that 25000 foreign emigrants have landed in that city since the first of April last. Of these 16000 are Irish; 2500 Germans; 3000 Swiss; & 3500 Dutch, &c. This influx, is recognized by the above print, as an accession of more than nine millions of dollars, to the common stock of wealth; it estimates the value of Irish-men at $700 each, and that of Irish-women at the meager sum of $50.
The Daughters of the Emerald Isle valued at only fifty dollars? Fie Mr. Bennett try it again.
