We hear from Cornhill, in Northumberland, of a very melancholy death lately in that neighbourhood, Colonel Max--ll, being indisposed, was waited upon by some friends who, upon entering his house, were alarmed by the servants informing them they had just heard a report like that of a pistol from his chamber; whereupon one of the gentlemen, a clergyman immediately stepping to his room, found him weltering in his blood with a sword in his hand, and a blunderbuss lying on the floor, with which he had shot himself.
