Special Chapel Program
Wednesday morning at eleven-thirty o'clock the A. S. H. S. assembled in the auditorium for its regular chapel program. We began our program with two selections, "America, The Beautiful," and "Love's Old Sweet Song." Era Hawkins read the devotional, the first eight verses of Psalms. Then Leo Pittard led us in the Lord's Prayer.
Mr. E. K. Veach gave us a very interesting report about the judging contest that was held near Rocky Mt. last Saturday. Perkins Crawley being one of the winners will go to Raleigh September 28. Mr. Veach also made the announcement of the Y. T. H. F. initiation to be held Wednesday night, September 24. Leo Pittard, a pupil who was in the judging contest, gave a very interesting talk on what they experienced on their trip to Rocky Mount. Perkins was recognized by the student body and faculty with a yell. Perkins was very much excited over his trip to Raleigh. He told us he was going to do his best for us, so he could get a trip to St. Louis. We are expecting him to bring the honor back from Raleigh.
Mr. Matthews gave a very interesting lecture on "What Our Library Means To Us." and "Proper Use of Leisure Time." I'm sure that every person that heard this lecture will make better use of his time and library. We are striving to make this year a more successful school year than has ever been before at A. S. H. S. Annie Pearl Crawley made an announcement of the Tacky Party to be held here in the auditorium Friday Night, October 3, sponsored by the Glee Club.
We are looking forward to the chapel program next Wednesday morning, October 1, at 11:30 o'clock. The Public Speaking Club will take charge.
