By the Master of a Schooner who arrived here last Wednesday, we are informed, That a Fishing Vessel was arrived at Cape Ann, the Master of which says, that he very narrowly escaped being taken on the Grand Banks by a French Privateer Schooner, of about 65 Tons, who was within 20 Yards of him, and ordered him to strike said come on board, but the Sea running high, and the French seeing that they were endeavouring to get away, fired their whole Broadside at them, which did but little Damage; afterwards the Wind springing up, they cut their Cable and so got clear. The above Privateer had with her a Ship of 2 or 300 Tons, which was thought to have been taken from the English.
