Three Men Went to View the City and One Was Almost Killed.
Paolo Remo, of 256 Fourth avenue, Brooklyn, is in the Seney Hospital this morning supposed to be fatally injured by an assassin. His head is smashed in and he has two long and deep knife wounds in his back near the lungs.
He says Luigi Venuto, a lodger in the same house, was his assailant.
The affray occurred at the corner of Carroll and Prospect avenue about 10 o'clock last night.
Remo has been in this country ten days. When he arrived, Venuto, who had known him before, brought him to Brooklyn.
About 6 o'clock yesterday Venuto and a man who is unknown took Remo out to see the city. Nothing more was seen of them until Remo was found almost dead at Carroll and Prospect avenue.
Venuto was found on Fourth avenue about 5 o'clock this morning. He had a heavy clasp-knife in his pocket stained with blood.
In the Butler Street Court this morning he was held for examination on Oct. 28.
