A Joplin Woman Who Eloped Requested That Her Baby Be Taught That She Was Dead.

Joplin, Mo., Aug. 30.-Mrs. Alice McCoy, wife of Superintendent William McCoy, of Indiana mine, is missing. It is alleged she left Joplin in company with Newton Mapes. Mrs. McCoy and Mapes were lovers several years ago at Sparta, Mo. The runaway wife addressed a note to her husband saying that he was a true and honest man, but that she loved another. "We will meet in heaven, but never again on earth," she said. "Raise our little boy right and teach the baby that its mother is dead."
