Fire Insurance
Rates To Drop

TALLAHASSEE - A reduction in fire insurance rates in Florida was announced today by State Insurance Commissioner J. Edwin Larson. The new rates will become effective Nov. 1.

Larson said the revised rates will mean an annual reduction of about two million dollars in the total fire insurance premiums paid by Florida policy holders.

Dwellings and apartment houses in protected areas, banks and offices, garages, schools and public properties are among the classes of property that will be affected by the reductions in fire coverage costs.

Larson said the latest reduction will bring to about five million dollars the cuts in the cost of fire insurance premiums to Floridians during the last five years.
