SENATE.
COLUMBUS, April 30.—No business of any importance was transacted in the Senate.
HOUSE.
Mr. Blake, of Portage County, announced the death of Hon. O. P. Nichols, Representative from Summit County, and moved the appointment of a committee to draft suitable resolutions on the life and services of the deceased, and to report these and such other appropriate action as might seem proper. Agreed to.
The Chair appointed as that committee Messrs. Blake, Williams and Holloway.
The Senate amendments to the adjournment resolutions were non-concurred in and a Committee of Conference appointed on the part of the House.
Several local bills were passed.
Notice was given of the intention to introduce resolutions compensating employees of the House for extra services.
Mr. Dirr introduced a bill authorizing the levy of a special tax of fifteen-one-hundredths of a mill in three years, five-one-hundredths each year by the City of Cincinnati to complete the Cincinnati City Infirmary and procure steam heating apparatus. Read the first time, and the second and third times under a suspension of the rules, and placed on to-day's calendar.
A bill to fix the salaries of members of the Legislature at $500 a year was lost.
Mr. McLain's bill to provide for transcribing the muster rolls of Ohio regiments now in the Adjutant General's office was taken from the table.
Mr. Nigh moved to amend by inserting the text of Converse's bill of last Saturday appropriating $1,000 for erecting tombstones on soldiers' graves in Greenlawn Cemetery. The amendment was adopted and bill passed.
The Senate refused to grant the Conference an adjournment, as asked.
