FROM THE NATIONAL MESSENGER.
Messrs. Editors: I will thank you to rectify a mistake which I discovered in your paper on Monday last, and from yours copied into the National Intelligencer of this day, stating that the Mayor of Georgetown was in favor of petitioning the Congress of the United States to retrocede to the state of Maryland that part of Washington county in which Georgetown stands. When this question was agitated a year ago, at a Town Meeting, and put down by a very large majority, I was known to be a very strong opponent to the measure. I have seen no reason yet, why I should change my mind on that subject; so soon as I see a cause to do so, I will publish the change of sentiment myself, without the agency of any other person.
HENRY FOYALL, Mayor.
