Latest from the River Platte.—The bark Francis Partridge, Capt. Broughton, arrived at this port on the 2d instant from Buenos Ayres, whence she sailed on the 5th October. Captain B. states that when he sailed it was supposed that the forces about to be sent by the Buenos Ayrean government against Paraguay would amount to not less than 17,000 men; the preparations were considerably advanced, and the expedition expected to leave soon.

The market at Buenos Ayres was glutted with every article, and prices had so fallen as to leave heavy loss on all imports. Flour was selling at $5, Spanish, on board.
Lumber had arrived in great quantities, and prices would only net about $25 per thousand feet.
Hides were extremely scarce and difficult to obtain, costing on board 8 cents per lb.

The drought had been very severe, though for the last two weeks considerable rain had fallen—still at the south there was much suffering, and cattle had become wild on account of it.

The Br. bark Alpha, which arrived at Buenos Ayres on the 1st October, reported having spoken, on the 10th September, in lat. 21° 12' S., long. 37° 20' W., ship Louis Philippe, Capt. Benthall, of and from Baltimore, bound to San Francisco, out sixty days.
Capt. Benthall reported all well on board his ship.
