Office Announces
1961 Measurement
Plans for offering premeasurement service in 1961 to cotton farmers were announced today by Lynn Jordon, Chairman of the Holmes ASC County Committee.
The purpose of the premeasurement program is to give every farm operator in the county an opportunity to have his cotton allotment measured and staked before the crop is planted. This is a voluntary program.
Mr. Jordan stated: therefore, any farm operator who is interested in having his farm's acreage premeasured must request the service at the Holmes ASC County Office.
The cost for premeasurement service is determined by the size of the allotments and will vary farm by farm. In order to give the rate for premeasurement cost the rates must be stated separately for the Hill and Delta areas.
For The Hill Area:
$7.00 for the first five acres, plus 90 cents per acre for each acre between six and ten, plus 75 cents for each acre between 11 and 25, plus 55 cents per acre for each acre over 25 acres.
For The Delta Area:
$7.00 for the first 15 acres, plus 45 cents per acre for each acre between 16 and 50, plus 30 cents for each acre between 51 and 100, plus 20 cents per acre for each acre over 100 acres.
If the crop is to be planted in a fallow-striped pattern which meets the planting limitations prescribed in Part Five Section Five of Handbook 2-PP, Revision Two, the service fee shall be computed based on the total acres premeasured rather than on the allotment.
The Chairman stated that January 30 through April 14, 1961, has been designated as the period during which farm operators may request premeasurement service.
Farm operators interested in premeasurement are urged to make their request for the service as soon as possible after the sign-up period opens so that the county office will have sufficient time to measure the acreage and stake the field before planting time.
than on the allotment.
