Bad Freight Wreck.

CINCINNATI, April 6. — Northbound freight No. 18, on the Cincinnati Southern railroad on approaching Ludlow shortly before noon yesterday ran into a switch engine and fourteen cars which had pulled out on the main track. The engineer of the incoming train saw the danger, whistled down brakes and reversed his engine, but finding that he could not avert the collision jumped in time to save his life. The crash was terrific, and both engines were wrecked.

Twelve cars were smashed into kindling wood and Brakeman Cayton, who was on his first trip over the road, was instantly killed. The other train escaped with a few bruises. The loss will be about $25,000.
