SAN FRANCISCO, July 24.—Recommendations will be made for enlargement of air mail fields as a result of the trip across the continent by six army planes. Maj. Thomas G. Lanphier, flight commander, said here today.
The planes dropped down into Crissy Field here yesterday at 3:43 p. m., some 45 minutes ahead of schedule. Major Lanphier reported the trip as generally uneventful, with no forced landings in the four days flying from Selfridge Field, Michigan.
After being guests of the city at dinners and on sightseeing trips, the aviators will start their return flight Sunday or Monday. The return trip from Omaha to Chicago will be made at night as a further test for the air mail route.
