The city council held a nice sociable meeting Monday p. m., that lasted only six hours. It was about 1:30 Tuesday a. m. when members of the council decided to call it a day, and adjourned the meeting, to resume hostilities again Thursday evening.
One of the features of the evening was the opening of bids for the proposed new fire truck for the city. There were five bids, each company being represented by at least one speaker, who presented the arguments in favor of his particular truck.
The companies who submitted bids that were opened on Oct. 13th meeting were American-La France of Chicago, Ill., Ahrens-Fox Fire Engine Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio; Mack International Motor Truck Corporation of St. Paul; Peter Pirsch and Son Co., of Kenosha, Wis., and Seagrave Corporation of Columbus Ohio.
