CAPTAIN LE MAIRE, who was sent to France by the government of Virginia, on publick business, in the year 1778, and is lately returned to give an account of his proceedings, having been gratified by the state in recompence of his services, and as a testimony of approbation of his conduct, with 2000 acres of land in one of the best settled in the country, and with a commission of Lieutenant Colonel Commandant of dragoons; taken this method of expressing his gratitude to the government for the favours it has conferred upon him, and of returning his thanks to sundry private Gentlemen for the civilities they have shewn him during his short residence in this place. These favours and civilities, in themselves highly valuable are rendered to him doubly so, by the honourable proof they afford of the assistance with which the subjects of his Prince are treated, in a state who alliance is so much esteemed by their monarch.
