FRAUDULENT CONTRACTORS.—The investigation into alleged frauds by contractors furnishing supplies for Government use, going on in New York city before H. S. Olcott, Special Commissioner of the Navy Department, seems to be of a very serious character. Eight or ten persons are already under arrest, several of whom are inmates of Fort Lafayette. It is charged that some of these frauds are exceedingly aggravated, and that they involve transactions amounting to millions of dollars. The examination of persons and papers in progress may occupy several weeks.
