NEW YORK—AFL International Labor Press of America is urging the appointment of qualified labor representatives, including labor editors, to top diplomatic posts abroad.
In a resolution at its recent annual meeting here, presented by Bernard Tassler, managing editor of THE AMERICAN FEDERATIONIST, the ILPA said that "many of the most penetrating observers of the world scene are in agreement that it would be very much in the interest of the U. S. and the free world, in the fight against Communists and other totalitarians, for our country to end the traditional monopoly on ambassadorial appointments held by the people from Big Business."
There are among the nation's labor editors, the resolution said, "a number of individuals highly qualified to win friends for the U. S. as diplomatic representatives of our country because they know labor thoroughly and speak the language that appeals to working people."
