BETTER GOVERNMENT
Up to about now, a lot of people have voted for national candidates more because of what the government gave them, in the way of relief and subsidies, than because of what they expected to give the government.
That is one reason a lot of congressmen, who heretofore have gotten by because of their ability to get all four feet in the pork barrel, have reason to be worried about the new federal tax program.
With everybody who makes over $12 a week slated to pay taxes—and that until they hurt—some of these constituents are going to begin to look about for men who will spend less money on everything, instead of more money on the constituents.
When that happens, a lot of WPA politicians are going out the door, and government is going to be a lot better for it.
Maybe there are some good angles to the tax bill, after all.
