Red Cross Drive Opens On March 1

At a recent meeting of the Board of Directors of the local chapter of the American Red Cross Mrs. Sidney Kessler was chosen again to head the 1956 Campaign for Memberships and funds which opens March 1st. Mrs. Irene Ambrose was selected to act as co-chairman.

This year the chapter's quota is set for $4000, of which $3650 will be allocated for local use, and $350 for the national organization to help build up its disaster fund which has no reserve left after the devastating disasters of hurricane, tornado and flood during the past year. The Virgin Islands have been spared from any serious disasters and a grateful populace should contribute generously to stand ready when we may be struck.

This year the American National Red Cross is celebrating its 75th anniversary and all of the 3746 chapters on the mainland and in the territories are asked during the month of March to give to the Red Cross to keep alive the great humanitarian work to which the organization has been dedicated for the past three-quarters of a century.
