THEIR TRAVELS IN THE EASTERN SECTION -
DISCOVERY OF VARIOUS NUISANCES.
The Board of Health met at the corner of Eighth and Lombard streets, at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon.
The first ordinance examined was a pond of stagnant water in the rear of a frame house at the corner of Eighth and Spruce, which was referred to the Eighth Ward Committee, with power to abate at once.
A pond of stagnant water at Spruce and Taylor streets, was next declared a nuisance, and the committee requested to notify the owners of the property to have it immediately abated.
Several hog pens in this vicinity were declared nuisances and ordered to be removed.
Also several on the Brandywine, at the foot of Taylor street.
At the corner of Pine and Taylor streets, a pond of stagnant water was discovered, which the Board instantly declared a nuisance and ordered its abatement
An alley running back from Lombard street, below Eighth, was ordered to be properly paved.
A pond of stagnant water was discovered on a lot, between Taylor and Ninth and Poplar and Lombard streets. The Board ordered its abatement by the owners otherwise the Committee will proceed to do it.
A similar nuisance was found to exist on Ninth street, between Poplar and Lombard. - Referred to the Eighth Ward Committee, with power to have it abated.
A pond of stagnant water at Ninth and Wilson streets was disposed of in like manner.
On motion, the Board adjourned.
