We learn from the Trinity Times, furnished us by Rhodes & Co.'s Express, that Trinity river was four feet higher on the 28th ult. than ever known before.
The bridge, says the Times, known as Lewis's bridge was swept away on that night carrying away with it the flume of Messrs. Fehley of which three thousand five hundred dollars had just been completed at an expense of three hundred dollars.
We understand that one of the piers of Lowden & Co.'s bridge at Grass Valley, settled nearly two feet: no fears however, are entertained in regard to the safety of the structure.
Mooney's Ferry broke adrift on the same night, and was carried down the stream several miles finally lodging a short distance above Lewis' crossing.
The water invaded numerous miners cabins which lined the banks of the river; and many wheels, sluice boxes, toms and rockers, were carried off to parts unknown.
Since writing the above, we learn, that the bridge across Trinity river at Sturdevants ranch, near the mouth of Capop creek, was swept away by the freshet on Wednesday night. This was a new bridge, recently completed at a considerable expense, and considered to be a very substantial structure.
We are informed by Mr. J. Fehley, that the injury to the Rush Creek Flume will be repaired by a few weeks labor.
