South-America.—Extract of a letter, dated at Bahia, July 1:—

"The ship Thomas Wilson, arrived here in 18 days from Monte-Video, brings intelligence of another action having been fought in sight of the walls of that city, between the Patriots and Brazilians, in which the latter had 600 men killed and wounded, and had 300 taken prisoners.

There had been three naval actions, but no one decisive. Commodore Brown has been highly extolled by the Americans and English for his conduct in the combats in sight of Monte-Video. The Chilian squadron, consisting of the Asia 64, and two gun-brigs, under the command of Admiral Guise, had left Callao, and were daily expected at Buenos-Ayres."
