DEBATE. -The debate of the Young Men's Literary Society last evening eclipsed anything that has heretofore been had by them. The subject the "Press and Pulpit," was ably and eloquently argued. The moral and intellectual influence they wield was fully shown, but the verdict of the Judges was that the press transcends every other power in influence and is the great educator of the people. The Society is growing rapidly and is bringing argumentative ability to light that has hitherto laid dormant. An active interest is being manifested by all the members, and also many ladies are flocking to its standard and lending their presence and abilities to advancing its cause.
