To Our Readers.
We owe an apology to those of our readers whose tastes are not of a political character for the almost entirely political cast which has been given to our paper during the present canvass. We beg them to bear with us one week longer when the struggle will be over, and it will be our pleasure to invest the columns of the Virginian with more general and varied interest.
We feel it to be our duty as public men and as patriots in view of the momentous consequences involved to devote our every energy and effort while we may in securing the election of Millard Fillmore to the Presidency.
And now, to this end, we invoke that class of our readers to whom this is addressed to, for once, throw aside their non-neutrality and indifference and come to the rescue of their country. Duty calls. Patriotism calls; then by your sense of duty and by the patriotic love you bear this glorious Union of States come up to the emergencies of the crisis, and work AND VOTE FOR MILLARD FILLMORE.
