NEW OFFICERS

Chosen by Passionists of the New Western Province.

The Western Province of the Passionists ended its session on Monday. The chapter began last week and the election of a Provincial took place on Friday, but it was not until Monday that the business was concluded. The chapter was held at Sacred Heart Retreat, on the Newburg road, this city. The Very Rev. Father Joseph Arnheim, second Consultor General, of Rome, presided.

The new Provincial for this district is the Very Rev. Father Jerome Reitermann. C. P., rector of Holy Cross Retreat, Mount Adams. Cincinnati. He succeeds the Very Rev. C. P. Lang, who has been Provincial since the Western Province was founded. Father Jerome will make his headquarters at Normandy. Mo. not far from St. Louis. His jurisdiction extends west of Pennsylvania.

Under his care will be five monasteries, St. Louis. Louisville. Cincinnati, Chicago and Kansas City. forty priests. thirty-five students, twenty lay brothers, fifteen novices and the direction of the novitiate in this city.

Other members of the Passionists chosen as officers are: Very Rev. Alfred Cagney. First Consultor: Very Rev. Michael Klinzig. Second Consultor; Rev. Daniel McGuire, Superior of Sacred Heart Retreat, Louisville: Rev. Casmir Taylor, Superior of Holy Cross Retreat, Cincinnati; Rev. Lambert Kendrick, Superior of monastery at St. Louis; Rev. Dennis Calligee, Superior of monastery at St. Paul. Kansas; Rev. Michael Klinzig. Superior at Chicago; Master of Novices. Sacred Heart Retreat. Louisville, Rev. Wilfrid Avery. Very Rev. Father Miller, who has been Superior at Sacred Heart Retreat, has been transferred to Chicago. All of the visiting priests returned to their respective stations this week.
