Apple Crates Play Big Supporting Role

HOLLYWOOD,

Prop men at Paramount were puzzled when Director George Marshall ordered 100 apple boxes for delivery to the set of the Bob Hope comedy of the 1700's, "Monsieur Beaucaire."

The boxes were not meant for use in the film.

Feminine principals and extras, all attired in 18th Century gowns, can't stand up for long periods without tiring under the weight of the costumes.

Marshall ordered the boxes because the girls can't sit on chairs while wearing hoop skirts.
