Born in America, but a resident of Germany since 1909, Fritz Zappe and his bride of five months arrived at Beatrice from Germany the first of the week.
The couple came over on the steamship George Washington and they went from here to Plymouth, where they will make their home with the brother of Mr. Zappe, a respected farmer there.
Fritz Zappe was born in this country. When he was about nine years of age his father returned to Germany where the young man was raised. He always valued his American birth and when he became 21 years of age he appeared before the American consul at Madgeburg, Germany, and filed proof of his American birth and claimed his American citizenship.
He came to this country from Germany as an American citizen.
In Madgeburg he was employed as a printer in one of the large engraving, lithograph and printing plants there. He said that before he left he was working on a huge job in which the concern was turning out an immense amount of bonds for circulation in America.
