PLEASING PROSPECT.
With a JEFFERSON in the Presidential chair, with a Burr to preside over our Senate, with a MADISON entrusted with the affairs of State, and a GALLATIN to superintend the Treasury, we are warranted, by strong probabilities to assert, that justice and economy will be the order of the day: that the Constitution will be kept inviolate, and public monies be accounted for when expended; merit will be given to the deserving, and Liberty reign triumphant.---With this view of our present auspicious situation, we want only the faithful heart, and diligent hand, and our Liberty is secured. Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, N. Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New-York and Rhode-Island, are Republican by great majorities. South-Carolina, Maryland, Delaware and New-Jersey, are less majorities, though collectively, are in the Republican interest. Vermont is near equally divided. It is said however that the present Assembly is decidedly Republican. New-Hampshire has a majority of six in their Legislature on the Federal side. Massachusetts hath less than thirty. Connecticut have a great majority, but the Republicans are gaining ground.
