WASHINGTON, April 23.
Miss Ada Burroughs today told a District of Columbia jury about her activities in the 1928 campaign waged by Bishop Cannon against Al Smith shortly after the Southern Methodist churchman had completed testimony concerning the transfer of money between his various bank accounts.
Cannon testified to numerous instances of simultaneous transfers of identical amounts of money between his accounts and that of headquarters committee of anti-Smith democrats.
Miss Burroughs said she took the job as treasurer of the headquarters committee "at insistence of Bishop Cannon," adding she did not have anything to do with the anti-Smith democratic committee—about which other witnesses had testified.
