BOSTON, Dec. 15.
Saturday morning a fire broke out in a building situated near Oliver's Dock, which entirely consumed the same, to the great detriment of its owners, and the inconceivable regret of gentlemen who devote their midnight hours to the innocent amusement of GAMBLING, as the building which was consumed was their constant receptacle. While the fire was spreading devastation through different parts of the building—a number of boys were so inhuman as to drag forth from the ruins an elegant BILLIARD TABLE, which they entirely broke to pieces, while the unfeeling crowd continued amused spectator of the destruction of a piece of mechanism so useful to society, and so beneficial to the morals of youth, and so instrumental in the propagation of honesty among mankind. Reflection on this dire catastrophe, will doubtless cause the sympathetic tear to bedew many a cheek, and excite the tender compassion of every feeling heart. The unfortunate losers surely have a claim to public charity, which perhaps (as almanack makers say, when speaking of the weather) will be exercised towards them—Alas! poor Bolby!!!
