At the Jackson, alias Jeffersonian Dinner, got up on Wednesday last, to perpetuate the system of political humbug which has been practised by the present administration, nine of the Pennsylvania delegation are said to have retired in disgust, after having read the toasts which, as might have been anticipated, breathed a spirit of hostility against the Tariff and Internal Improvements. It is a remarkable fact, that on all questions which have been brought up this session, in either House of Congress, and in which great national principles were involved, though at variance with party views, there has been a decided majority. And it is equally remarkable that no single measure, recommended by the present Executive, has been adopted. We mention these acts to shew that Gen. Jackson owes his election, not to the influence of those great principles which constitute the true policy of the nation, but to deception, falsehood and humbug—Nat. Jour.
