At one of the African churches up town a trial of a colored woman charged with kidnapping has been for some time in progress, and on Friday evening she was acquitted, but a large portion of the congregation was dissatisfied and pursued her in the streets. She took refuge in the Eldredge street watch house, while the party outside was determined to have her. "We am de committee" said a few persons "and find her not guilty." "She is guilty." said the rioters, 'she has made enough by selling her colour to live on the interest.' The watchmen collected in great numbers, and had just at the time when those gentry were on scaling the watch house and lynching the wench, several gentlemen with fatigue caps and muskets came up, being probably coming from evening drill. They mistaking these for a militia company called out specially, made off, leaving the wench in the custody of the watch. The abolitionists will get these people into great trouble -N. Y. Star.
