REMARKABLE PETRIFACTION. Mr. J. B. Reed, of Goodlettsville, exhibited to us, on Saturday, one of the most remarkable specimens of petrifaction we have ever seen. It appeared to be the head of a half-grown human fetus with the nose, eyes, mouth, chin, and even the seams in the skull, almost perfect. About the ears and shoulders there was the appearance of a natural covering. The head, thus petrified, had the appearance of chrystalized limestone, the top of the head granulated. The shoulders and breast was brown sandstone, which was all of the specimen. It had been submitted to several medical gentlemen, who all concur in the opinion that it was a real human foetus petrified. The head at the base of the brain, in front, was very wide, indicative of the Indian. The specimen was picked up on the lands of Mr. J. P. Bellamy in Montgomery county, on the waters of Blooming Grove Creek. The lands where it was found were woodland, and had never been cultivated. It will be presented to the Tennessee Historical Society and will constitute one of the most singular curiosities, coming to it from this State.-Nash. Patriot
