LONDON, July 3.

Tuesday morning an express came to the Public Office in Bow-street, from Newcastle upon Tyne, informing Sir Sampson Wright, that the noted Barrington was in custody in that town. He was apprehended attempting to pick pockets; said he was a dentist, and that he was born in North-Wales. During his stay in that town, which has been but a short time, he has gone by two different names. He stands indicted for robbing P. Le Meurier, Esq. some time since at Drury-lane Theatre, and is also outlawed.

Some officers belonging to Bow-street are dispatched in order to bring him to town.

An account is also received, that Brodie, some time since advertised for robbing the Edinburgh Bank, is secured in the Stadthouse at Amsterdam, and proper persons are dispatched to bring him over in order for trial.

The same day the sessions ended, when 11 convicts received judgment of death, 53 were ordered to be transported, five to be kept to hard labor in the house of correction, five to be whipped and discharged, and 26 discharged by proclamation.

A new farce was, at Hay-Market Theatre, performed, the production of Mr. O'Keeffe, entitled, The Prisoner at Large. This performance abounds with that humor which characterizes the muse of O'Keeffe. It is not possible to reconcile the business with probability. It is not possible for the understanding to approve, but it is impossible for our faculties to resist the provocation to laughter. It is more highly charged with this species of humor, than any of his later productions.

To attempt to delineate a plot, which boldly violates all the laws of critical regularity and natural probability, would be idle. The idea on which it is founded, namely, that a nobleman, who has ruined himself by gaming, and is imprisoned in Paris, is permitted by his gaoler to visit his paternal estate near the Lake of Killarney in Ireland, and favored during his peregrination there with his company, is highly improbable: yet, notwithstanding this daring defect, and notwithstanding the author has in his present farce, as in all his former pieces, pushed his humour into absurdity. The Prisoner at Large is the most laughable nonsense that we ever witnessed, and abounds with situations which are too ludicrous not to excite universal risibility.
