Full Text

Cholera in Vicksburg.—Our citizens have been considerably alarmed for the last week, on account of the existence of the Cholera among us. Some of the cases were brought from New Orleans and some originated here. On Saturday night and Sunday last there were five or six cases in one house, all terminating fatally—but this created no panic, as when looked into, the house was found horribly filthy, and the inmates lived in destitution and drunkenness. Since that time we have no heard of a single new case, and as the weather is good we hope it has left us, at least for the present. We learn there have been cases on several plantations on the river above this city.
