Full Text
The facts in the case are, that there has been a number of mild cases of this disease in our midst, but none have died, or so far as we are informed, came near dying. Indeed so mild has been the disease, that many still entertain doubts of its really being the small-pox. Yet as our physicians generally concur in the opinion that this is the disease, it can be safely set down as such. Under the stringent sanative measures which have been adopted, we have no doubt that our town will soon be relieved of the pest. In the meantime, we do not anticipate any very serious effects. We have as yet lost none of the force of the Register establishment, and expect to be able to send out our usual weekly bulletin to our readers, as untainted with small-pox as Know-Nothingism.
